MOLD REMEDIATION SERVICE -

What Professional Mold Remediation is & Why it Matters

Mold remediation is the process of identifying, removing, and sanitizing mold contamination within a vehicle's interior. Surface treatments, on their own, often do not reach deep enough into carpet, padding, foam, and ventilation paths to effectively destroy mold spores and prevent regrowth and odor. Our process at Acadiana Detailing is built from the ground up on proper remediation protcols, following home & commercial industry remediation regulation - something not present, and not seen, in the detailing space.

At Acadiana Detailing, mold remediation starts at $500 for a small sedan and scales with vehicle size and severity. Final pricing is confirmed after conversation and hands-on inspection.

MOLD REMEDIATION SERVICE -

Our Mold Remediation Process

Mold is a living, growing organism - your household cleaners and disinfectants aren't capable of handling this issue alone. Here's what we do and why.

  • Thorough inspection to identify where the mold is, how deeply it's rooted, and its origin. Our inspection includes hidden areas under carpet, seats, behind trim, and inside ventilation tunnels.
  • Proper disassembly - we often remove seats, plastics, carpet, padding, and sometimes resort to fully gutting an interior to access all contamination at its source.
  • Exceptional carpet cleaners that double as stain removers and disinfectants. All of our carpet solutions are 100% safe on all interior upholstery and disinfect on contact.
  • EPA-registered treatments - liquid and gas, applied overnight. Few products carry registration for both liquid and gas form. Our liquid disinfectant is applied to the entire interior, and the gas treatment reaches what the liquid can't.
  • Ventilation system cleaned and disinfected. Your cabin air filter is replaced even if it looks clean. We run rinseless cleaners to break down dirt and contamination that clogs your coils, followed by a thorough disinfection.
  • CRI-approved cleaning products throughout - independently certified to actually do what they claim, not just sound good on a label.
  • No bleach, no fragrances, no shortcuts. Most household disinfectants are bleach or chlorine-based, and can leave residue or damage surfaces. Many products include fragrance, which masks instead of remediates. Our process kills mold and removes it — our products and process do not cover or hide anything.

Lafayette's Climate & Why Our Cars Get Mold

We all know the humidity down here isn't preferable. Between the moisture, heat, and organic matter (dirt) that sneaks in from daily driving, your cabin is constantly fighting conditions mold thrives in. A closed car is a nice, dark environment, and if left dirty and humid, will almost always grow mold after enough time — even just a few days.

If you've noticed a musty smell when you open the door, mold is likely already growing somewhere you can't see — in the carpet padding, under the seats, or inside the air system. The longer it sits, the deeper it goes.

Mold Remediation FAQs

How long does mold remediation take?

Most jobs take a minimum of two days — for example, drop off Monday morning, pick up Tuesday afternoon. Larger vehicles with more severe contamination can take longer. We can provide an initial ETA during the quote process, and a more accurate ETA after inspection.

Is my vehicle safe to drive when I get it back?

Absolutely! It will be a safer, cleaner vehicle after it leaves our hands. Our disinfectant treatment leaves a nice, faint clean smell that fades within a few days — fresh air and sunlight help. We don't add any fragrances or allergens, so the vehicle is safe even for sensitive folks. If you have specific chemical sensitivities, let us know at intake and we'll adjust accordingly.

Do you guarantee the mold won't come back?

We can't offer a flat guarantee — if the area gets wet again, mold can regrow. That is simply how mold works. However, in our entire span of offering these services, we've never had a customer come back with a repeat issue. If mold ever does return in short order, we'd take care of you — that's what we stand by.

Why don't you list the specific chemicals you use?

Our chemical selection is the result of years of trial and refinement, and it's part of what sets our results apart. We use professional-grade, EPA-registered disinfectants and CRI-approved cleaning solutions across the board. Lab testing, product registration, and documentation are available on request for inquiring clients who want to know more!

Where do you do the work?

Mold remediation is shop-only. Unfortunately, complete disassembly and overnight treatments can't happen at your driveway. Drop off and pickup happen at our shop.
